The Pine Country Foundation was established to create and increase flexible, permanent funds to meet needs within the Trailblazer parishes. It must operate from an endowed permanent asset base. The success of the Foundation will depend upon charitably-inclined corporations and individuals who have substantial assets and an interest in helping their communities.

Community foundations are the fastest growing sector of American philanthropy. There are now more than 400 community foundations across the United States. Their assets have tripled in the last decade to over $6 billion. In 1991, community foundations in the U.S. made over $320 million in grants to charitable organizations.
